A Letter from the President

As you investigate nursing homes, you’ll notice that some communities make a point of letting you know they are nonprofit, and you might wonder what difference that makes. At Mission Health Services, the focus is serving our residents rather than increasing the “bottom line” for absent owners, investors, and shareholders. Quality, not earnings, is our number-one objective. All proceeds from operations are reinvested in improving the physical environment, serving our residents and care partners, offering better accommodations and services, and ultimately, fulfilling our mission. We are accountable to our residents, care partners, a volunteer board of directors, and the entire community at large. Finances are open for public scrutiny, and annual tax filings are readily available on the Internet – literally at your fingertips!

Mission Health Services has a genuine responsibility to serve beyond our care communities, bridging internal and external constituencies to be active, contributing members of the greater community. We seek social accountability opportunities and measures to identify and exercise leadership in meeting local needs. We open our care communities to other nonprofit organizations and share our time, talent, and treasure. The bottom line: it is the people — not profits — that define Mission Health Services’ success.
