The primary purpose of your job position as a certified nursing assistant is to provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, to maximize their potential in a manner conducive to their comfort and safety and to assure that the highest quality of resident care can be maintained or as may be directed by your supervisors.

  1. Recognize and respond to the needs of the residents
  2. Make prompt and accurate judgments with regard to resident safety and care.
  3. Recognize and respond to resident needs. Promote independence to highest level of resident capability.
  4. Ensure that the resident’s room is ready for receiving the resident (i.e., bed made, name tags up, admission kit available, etc.).
  5. Make resident comfortable (i.e., put to bed, get water, etc.). 18. Make resident comfortable (i.e., put to bed, get water, etc.).
  6. Cooperate with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other Community personnel to ensure that nursing services can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
  7. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
  8. Assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, and/or the improvement of services.
  9. Report all complaints and grievances made by the resident to your supervisor.
