National Caregiver Week: Providing Support for our Community Caregivers

More and more families are choosing to keep loved ones at home rather than admit them to a nursing home or assisted living. In honor of National Caregiver Week, we would like to thank you for the work you do to care for your loved ones. Being a home caregiver is no easy task. According to Caregiver Statistics, an informal caregiver is an unpaid individual, generally a child or spouse that is involved in assisting others with activities of daily living. There are approximately 43.5 million caregivers that provide unpaid care to an adult or child. 15.7 million families care for someone with Alzheimer’s or other dementia. This equates to $470 billion dollars, the value exceeding paid home care or even Medicaid spending for assisted living, memory care, or nursing home care. On average, caregivers spend an average of 24 hours a week providing care with 40% in high burden situations.

Mission Health Services and Namaste Memory Center at Crescent Senior Living would like to support all caregivers by hosting a night out every month. Respite, including an activity and food will be provided for your loved one while you receive additional education and support to care for your loved one successfully. Dates to be announced soon!
